How to paint with colored pencils

How to draw

colored pencils to use

First, apply the undercoat.

Faber-Castell water-based (commonly known as red can) used for undercoating

We sell it cheaply. The feature is that the core is hard, evenly thin and evenly.

You can paint it. The color is weak, so use it as an undercoat.

Next is the colored pencil that will be used for two coats.

I mainly use Holbein, but Holbein doesn’t have the color I want to use.

If so, I also use Polychromos and Charisma colors.

They all have roughly the same characteristics, with a soft core and strong coloring.

Colored pencils with soft leads tend to be uneven because the paint doesn’t get to the bottom of the uneven surfaces of the paper.

Colored pencils used for 3 coats

I use the red canned Faber-Castell that I used for the undercoat.

Meaning of applying 3 times

The purpose is to eliminate unevenness by pressing.

I’ll try it with an actual picture I drew.

The beginning of coloring.

undercoat

The back room is dark green. The door is blue.

Kiki’s clothes are a subtle navy blue or purple color. If you don’t have a color, just mix similar colors.

The designer woman in the room in the foreground is shadowed by Cobalt.

In this image, it is applied roughly, but please apply it neatly and thinly.

For the color, paint the light areas in bright colors, and do not paint in the shadows here.

Once you’ve painted the entire area, apply two coats.

2 coats

When it comes to hair color, it will look better if you mix two to three colors together.

Here it is painted orange and brown.

For the second coat, apply the color fairly lightly.

Again, mix the two colors and paint. Mixing different colors gives the color depth.

It makes for an interesting picture.

This is after two coats.

The shadows in the back room are painted black, and the shading of the shadows creates three-dimensionality and depth.

Shadows can be painted with black or gray, or with dark colors.

Use black for the darkest part of the shadow, and a darker color for lighter shadows.

3 coats

When applying the third coat, apply a little more forcefully, pressing it against the paper.

Since it is a finishing touch, it eliminates unevenness neatly.

It is not necessary to use the same color for the base coat, second coat, and third coat.

Rather, by painting different colors, you can create a deeper color.

The completed picture looks like this.

What do you think.

There are 10 different ways to color. I think it’s good to have your own way.

It doesn’t have to be this way, but I’ll explain my method as an example.

I received it.
